Consultations
Getting Started:
Most questions can be answered by reviewing the resources found on the Family Law page and the Criminal Law page. If you have a general question regarding a resource or where to find another resource, then please reach out. If you would like to discuss your specific case or circumstance then this is where a consultation fee becomes applicable.
How does it work:
If you are a self-rep and you would like to discuss your case, I will send you an invoice for $100 that is payable immediately. Once it is paid, then we will set up a date and time to discuss your case. If you are a lawyer that would like to discuss your paralegal/admin/case needs, the consultation fee applies as well. If you would like to hire My Legal Helper, the $100 consultation fee is applied as a credit on your first invoice. That’s right. I don’t unnecessarily profit off your need for legal help. If you choose not to hire My Legal Helper, then you’ve just paid for the consultation and nothing more and sometimes that’s all you may need.
All invoices are sent through the Square app so you’ll have a receipt for your records. You can pay by e-transfer (email will be provided in the invoice) or you can pay by credit card. I do not accept cash or cheques (unless the cheque is from a law firm).
How long is the consultation:
You will get up to a 1 hour consultation in either 1-one hour session or 2-30 min sessions. After this, if you choose to hire My Legal Helper, I will send you a contract (through the Square app) for review that will outline the scope of services I will be providing for you and the cost. Once you sign it, I can get to working on your case with you!
