My Legal Helper

1. Overview

My Legal Helper provides professionally prepared legal documents and paralegal services. Due to the nature of these services, all sales are final unless expressly stated otherwise in writing.

This policy applies to:

  • Online agreement and form purchases
  • Checklist-based and intake-based document preparation
  • Paralegal services provided to self-represented litigants

2. No Refunds on Agreement and Form Purchases

All agreement and form purchases made through My Legal Helper are non-refundable.

Once an agreement or form is purchased, work begins immediately.
Submitting payment constitutes the commencement of work, regardless of whether the purchaser has completed an intake form, checklist, or provided additional information.

These documents are:

  • Completed or prepared by a paralegal based on information provided by the purchaser
  • Customized to the purchaser’s circumstances
  • Delivered digitally

No refunds, credits, or chargebacks will be issued, including (but not limited to) situations where:

  • The purchaser decides not to proceed after payment
  • The agreement is no longer required
  • The parties reconcile, separate, or change circumstances
  • The purchaser changes their mind
  • Required information is not completed or submitted
  • The document is not signed, filed, relied upon, or accepted by a third party

For online agreement and form purchases, the purchaser is a customer, not a legal client, and no solicitor–client or paralegal–client relationship is created.

3. Paralegal Services for Self-Represented Clients

In some circumstances, My Legal Helper provides paralegal services to individuals who are self-represented in court proceedings. Where a formal service agreement is entered into, the individual becomes a paralegal client.

In many cases, paralegal services are paid for by way of a pre-payment or retainer, which is applied toward work as it is performed.

  • Fees for work completed, billed, and applied against the pre-payment are not refundable.
  • Fees are earned based on professional time, preparation, and services provided, not on outcomes achieved.

If the paralegal–client relationship ends and any portion of the pre-payment remains after all completed work has been billed, the unused balance will be refunded to the client.

Refunds will not be issued where:

  • A court or tribunal outcome is adverse or unfavourable
  • A judge, registrar, adjudicator, or opposing party does not accept a document or position
  • Proceedings take longer than anticipated
  • The client chooses to discontinue, settle, or change strategy

No outcome is guaranteed, and an unexpected or unfavourable result does not constitute a deficiency in service.

4. No Outcome-Based Refunds

My Legal Helper does not provide refunds based on:

  • Court or tribunal decisions
  • Settlement outcomes
  • Enforcement success or failure
  • Judicial or adjudicator discretion
  • Actions or decisions of third parties

An unexpected or unfavourable outcome does not entitle a customer or client to a refund.

5. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes

Initiating a chargeback or payment dispute after receiving documents or services constitutes a breach of this policy.

Chargeback disputes may require My Legal Helper to submit documentation to payment processors, which may include personal information, intake details, communications, and transaction records.
By purchasing, you consent to the disclosure of such information where required to respond to a payment dispute.

6. Jurisdiction and Dispute Resolution

Any dispute arising from:

  • The purchase of forms or agreements
  • The provision of paralegal services
  • This Refund & Returns Policy

shall be governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia.

All disputes shall be resolved exclusively through the Civil Resolution Tribunal (British Columbia) where within its jurisdiction, or otherwise through the courts of competent jurisdiction in British Columbia.

7. Customer vs. Paralegal Client

There is an important distinction between customers and paralegal clients:

  • Customers purchase online forms or agreements. No paralegal–client relationship is created, and no legal advice is provided.
  • Paralegal clients are self-represented individuals who enter into a separate service agreement for paralegal services.

Refunds are not available in either case for work completed or services rendered. Purchasing a form or retaining paralegal services does not guarantee any legal outcome.

8. Acknowledgement

By purchasing a form, agreement, or service from My Legal Helper, you acknowledge that:

  • You have read and understood this Refund & Returns Policy
  • You understand that work begins immediately upon payment
  • You understand the distinction between a customer and a paralegal client
  • You agree that all sales are final except for unused pre-payment balances as outlined above
  • You accept that legal outcomes are not guaranteed
